WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

2017 has been a great year for Morclean so far and we have lots of innovative and forward-thinking ideas in the mix. Peter Morley, Managing Director of Morclean, speaks about one of our more recent ideas, the Emergency and Spill Response Van.

This vehicle is designed especially for emergency clean up’s and will efficiently aid in dealing with many problems such as emergency vehicle cleaning, trauma and crime scene cleaning, sewage, flood water and street cleaning, bird dropping removal, odour removal, void property cleaning and many more.

Peter Morley said:

“We recognise that there is an established need for an efficient and self-contained solution, though we have looked at this from a different angle and taken a more innovative approach. Now we need feedback from potential clients”.

Feedback
Whilst still in the testing stages of this system, we would really like to hear your thoughts and feedback on this concept. So, here’s a bit more information on the innovative idea and answers to some of our frequently asked questions.

This ordinary looking prototype will produce 1500psi of hot water, which is basically like a jet wash/steam cleaner, but without the additional engine, battery or generator.

There will also be no secondary fuel tank, we will simply use the existing energy from the van to power the machine (along with an integral water tank and detergent supply), which will result in a quieter and easier to use, mobile machine.

“Without self-contained system, there’s no generator, no 2nd engine, no trailer to tow, and no additional power, so we can help operators by providing a much quieter and faster option”

Is there a need for PTO’s?
As you're no doubt aware, PTO's (Power Take Off’s) have been around for years and more commonly seen on tractors and farming machinery, but with this system, there will be no need for a PTO.

Yes, the van is running instead of a smaller engine, but this is much quieter and there is no need for a secondary fuel tank or the need to carry fuel, which will also free up a lot of space.

“We looked at the current systems on the market and thought… there’s already sufficient energy in the vehicle - so why duplicate it? Why waste that energy?  And now we have a quieter and more efficient solution”

So, what are the current options?
Presently you can use an engine driven hot water pressure washer/steam cleaner, we sell these already, but that means another engine and it's a fair-sized machine, so not as easy to transport.

Even a smaller compact steam cleaner needs a fair-sized generator of some 5KVA or thereabouts, and again, another engine and more valuable space. We can already do this with Li-ion batteries but the cost, weight and space outweighs the advantages

Tell us what you think…
The system is still currently being tested and Morclean would love to hear your thoughts on this before taking it to market.

Morclean are hopeful that this system will help businesses across the UK to quickly and efficiently manage spills, saving potential fines and preventing damage to the environment.

Like most new ideas it was developed out of something else, and stemmed from another similar project. But it just might be a great idea and that what we're shouting about today, to simply ask your opinions.

It's not just a drain: Water Filtration

#ItsNotJustADrain: Water Filtration

As most of you will know, those who create waste water in a business, like car washing, have a responsibility to collect and dispose of said water. It is unlawful to discharge chemical laced and contaminated vehicle wash water down surface drains and you can be faced with a hefty charge if you are caught.

Remember, "it's not just a drain" these surface drains actually carry, essentially harmless, rain water to rivers and soakaways, so if contaminated water were to go through these drains, it is potentially harmful to our ecosystems. It can also cause harm to animals that drink from such polluted water. Contaminated wash water must outflow to a mains foul drain and usually via an interceptor.

If there is no foul drain or easy access to a foul drain, then the car wash operator would have to either:
  1. Move off site and find a new location
  2. Contain and store the water and take it all off site
  3. Fully recycle the water.
All 3 are time consuming, not cost effective and just a bit of a pain really... so, what can you do?

Well, let me tell you, over the past five years, the boffins at Morclean have been developing a new and innovative, fully surfaced mounted water filtration system, that meets the EA's requirements.

This system will be able to filter the water so well, that it can be discharged to a surface drain or water course.
It also eradicates the need for any relocation or excavation or below ground installations; which is very costly, time consuming and sometimes impossible.

Why not re-use the water?
A good question, and we already can. Full water recycling that provides rinse quality water, can be expensive. It's mainly the cost and servicing of a reclaim that makes it prohibitive and recycling is a much more complicated and expensive system.

Over the past 5 years, w
e've seen unworkable prototypes, failures, brief successes and moments of frustration, but along the way we've learned by our mistakes and we're now seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

Photo of an early prototype

Working with both 3D CAD design and common sense, we were able to produce this prototype and it's now the time to take it to test market and gauge our customer's reactions. So far the response has been great.

If you have any feedback or thoughts on this, please get in touch, we would really love to hear them whilst we test the market.

  • Factory environments
  • Airports
  • Shopping centres

Perfect for different floor surfaces
Morclean’s hard floor scrubbing and cleaning machines are perfect for industrial and commercial floors, including concrete, marbled floor, vinyl floor, terrazzo, tiled, stone and slate floor surfaces.

Scrubber drier or dryer?
Do you spell it scrubber drier or dryer? Not that it really matters as either way, the machine cleans and dries a floor. Using brushes to scrub the dirty surface as small volumes of water and detergents are applied to give a deep clean. Vacuum suction extracts the dirty water, leaving a safe floor surface to walk on for pedestrians.

It's not just a drain: BinWash System

#ItsNotJustADrain: BinWash System

You may not be aware that disposing of contaminated waste water could land you with a hefty fine or in some extreme cases, potentially prison.

This is because there are different types of drains which can only have certain things run through them. These are foul drains and surface drains.

A foul drain is designed to carry contaminated wastewater to a sewage works for treatment, where as a surface drain is only really meant for rainwater and uncontaminated, clean water.

This is because surface drains lead directly towards our rivers, streams and lakes and the untreated, chemical laced water is deadly to our eco system and potentially harmful to animals that may drink the water.

Activities that product contaminated water or other liquids ('trade effluent') may include:
  • Wheelie bin washing
  • Vehicle washing
  • Yard cleaning
  • Manufacturing processes
  • Water cooling
  • Cleaning of food production areas or ovens

Our Bin Wash machines are fully self-contained, meaning all of the dirty, yucky water that is produced from cleaning the wheelie bins is collected and stored in the machine and said wash water is recycled as per the EA guidelines, allowing you to wash bins legally.
We are always pushing boundaries and looking for new ways to make our Bin Wash systems even better each time.

Here at Morclean, we knew this was a problem and many bin cleaning businesses needed a solution. That's why our award winning Bin Wash systems are our best sellers, worldwide.
This is why we've developed most ranges of our Bin Wash machines with '
6 Stages of Treatment', in order to make cleaning bins an effortless duty:

  1. The catchment tray takes out larger items of debris
  2. A fine mesh screen [80 mesh/177 microns] filters the water
  3. The third filter [20 mesh/871 microns] is situated just before the pump
  4. Water in the holding tank passes through a ‘blue’ washable filter [100 micron nylon mesh]
  5. Water is filtered through a silver impregnated tube which inhibits the growth of bacteria.
  6. The water is then aerated before it enters the main tank.
The tank of water is re-filtered while the machine is idling. In effect the water gets cleaner and cleaner throughout the day.
